Sunset over Manitou Lake
After dinner, Diane and I walked back along the lake and were treated to an absolutely gorgeous sunset. There are going to be several images in this sequence, but I think this is one of the best ones. I hope you like it!

At lake Manitou, Diane and I continued walking along the lake towards dinner. It was getting later in the day, and the shadows started getting longer. So this is Diane's and my shadows looking out over the lovely lake scenery.
This is my sweetheart, Diane. We had decided to go out for a walk on the way to the dinner during the Warick family reunion, and stopped in a little playground to take a few photos. It was rather pretty ... and I really rather like this photo. It turns out that the red colour Diane is wearing fits so well in this scene -- even though that wasn't done on purpose. This shot wasn't posed, she got up there and I turned around and saw it and snapped the photo.
Okay, just one more photo of this sunset before I move on. This one I shot out of the moving car, but it doesn't seem to have suffered for it. I rather like the reflection of the sunset off the pond.
This is the same sunset as the previous photo, but through a telephone booth. I quite like it, though I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out.
This is the first of three sunsets that we got to witness on the trip. For this one, we stopped at a little gas station for a quick rest stop and for me to run around the mosquito infested area taking photos of the sunset.
Last weekend, Diane, her family and I went on a road trip to her family reunion. It was held in Manitou, Saskatchewan which is about a 7-8 hour drive (depending on stops and how fast you drive). The next series of photos will be from that trip - and let me just say that there are some that I am pretty proud of.
This is one of the first that I took. Notice that you can't see our car in the reflection.
I'm glad people seemed to like my other LRT bridge photo. This photo was taken once we had finished crossing the high level and turned to look back at both bridges. Not quite as awesome as the previous photo, but I like it too.
I shot this photo walking back from the University of Alberta golden bears versus Oiler rookies hockey game. Even with my 50mm f/1.4 lens and a high ISO, I had some troubles taking some hand held shots ... but this one turned out a little better than alright, I think. There's a couple more that turned out pretty well. The LRT bridge is rather pretty at night, I think!
I was lucky to be able to attend the soldout University of Alberta Golden Bears game against the Edmonton Oiler rookies. I took my camera and got a fair number of photos from the event, and some turned out. Here are three photos from the game. A slapshot action shot.

Yeah, I know I said the last image would be the last of the wedding photos. But that was before I played around and got this photo out with the rings. I'd seen the selective colouring of a black and white image before, but hadn't ever tried it. I think this is a pretty stunning image, what do you think?

Am I going overboard with these black and white shots? :)
I think this'll be the last photo I'll upload from Darse and Alexandra's wedding. While there are plenty of other photos that turned out, I have a ton of photos to catch up with, and if I don't start posting them, I'm going to be posting photos from several months ago! Hope you enjoyed these! If you want to check out some more photos from the event, take a look here: www.cs.ualberta.ca/~darse/Photos/Wedding.
You know, I'm having a lot of fun with this black and white thing.
In other news, I've got a rather huge backlog of photos to go through. I just got back from Diane's family reunion, so I've got a TON of photos from that. Some are pretty awesome, and I can't wait to get to them. So I'll be wrapping up uploading photos from Darse and Alexandra's wedding later on this week and try and get myself caught up some. I might even have to start uploading photos more than one-a-day. Hmmm...

I'm not really much of a posed photographer. I haven't had much experience asking people to stand in certain places with certain expressions and all that. I usually just run around and take pictures of whatever I like. This wedding shoot wasn't really all that different - I just let Darse and Alexandra do stuff and I took photos. I'm not really sure how to get myself into the mode where I can put people where good photos will turn out, but maybe that's something to work on. This photo was definitely not posed by me. The two of them randomly came up with this pose!

Darse and Alexandra's rings on their hands. I rather like it in B&W myself.

This was the scenery at Darse and Alexandra's wedding. It really was beautiful -- I was totally impressed with the location!

I had the pleasure of being one of the few people invited to the recent wedding of my friend and colleague Darse to his Alexandra. I was quite honoured to be there since it was a minimal wedding. I was there to document it through photography, and I think I did a fairly decent job for my first wedding shoot. This photo is Alexandra overlooking the river valley. They had chosen a really beautiful location not far from the royal museum. Hope you like the photos that I'll upload from their wedding!
Another photo from Elk Island National Park. I really need to buy a macro lens -- I'd like to get into the whole macro photography thing, but neither of my lenses are fantastic for this purpose. Still, this photo turned out alright.
